MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Nitro:licious 2046 Lipglass Review

Image
Forget mixing lipglasses for tomorrow.  I'm pairing Nitro:licious 2046 with Hocus Pocus.  Oh yes I am going to be a smokey eyed red lipped vixen tomorrow!  Come to mama! Ahem.  Nitro:licious 2046 is the kinda red to make them stop and take notice.  We are talking red stop light while going 50 miles per hour kinda notice.  Tires will squeal and heads will double take when you wear this.  The faint of heart need not apply here.

MAC Bloggers' Obsessesions Hocus Pocus Eye Shadow Review

Image
It's funny but the more I try and experiment with all the pieces in this collection the more I understand MAC's logic behind choosing these colors.  All together you sit back and go, hmmm how do all these work together?  Should they work together?  And my answer, a loud yes!  So far two of the eye shadow colors, Hocus Pocus and Sparkle Neely, Sparkle! can be used as eye liners as well as shadows.  Pairing them with a base like Jealousy Wakes or Parisian Rain with one of the lipglasses, bingo complete look!  Or even do what I did at work and mix Caqui lipglass with Sonoran Rain lipglass to get a hot new color.  I know I'm rambling again when I should be talking about the eye shadow.  Okay okay I'm getting on with it.  Sheesh!

MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Sparkle Neely, Sparkle! Review

Image
There are not enough rust colors found in eye shadows.  Most tend to lean towards the brick red color and not a true rusty brown color.  Plus this one comes packed with tons of champagne glitter.  What I love is this color can be an eye shadow and also a lovely smudged liner.  Brown eyed girls this one is for you!  That extra bit of glitz adds something something to this when worn.

MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Evolution Revolution Lipglass Review

Image
Evolution Revolution is a beautiful my lips but better shade reminiscent of oven baked peach pie.  There's a comforting sugary warmth about this color.  Like all it's missing is a scoop of french vanilla bean ice cream.  Course MAC's vanilla scent found in all lipglasses only helps to seal this feeling.

Hot Mama Monday - MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Sonoran Rain Lipglass Review

Image
You've never had a coral red like Sonoran Rain.  Trust me.  MAC literally captured the sunset in a bottle and sold it as lipglass.  Never has so much silver and gold sparkle and shimmer been suspended in a luscious shade to grace your lips.

Hot Mama Monday - MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Parisian Skies Eye Shadow Review

Image
I don't have enough sky blues in my collection.  Parisian Skies is one of those almost storm blues.  Like the color the sky gets before it goes grey.  That in between color where the blue is so vivid and striking it just stands out to be noticed.

I shared a few of these pix last week from my Nordstrom haul and I am IN LOVE!  An entire collection devoted to those that wear glasses.  How can I not be head over heels for this? Aren't these lovely?  A mix of matte, sparkle, metallic, and shimmer wash shadows.  Perfect for any eye color and just the right amount of color for eye glass wearers.  Above is the Limited Edition Bronze eye palette.  The second shelf slides out to reveal the 4 shadows.  When closed up this palette is purse and travel friendly.  Bonus! And this is the lovely Limited Edition Sand Palette.  Each palette is designed for your skin tone.  The Bronze palette is perfect for medium to dark skin tones.  The Sand palette is perfect for light to medium skin tones.  Both palettes can be used for work or play, sheered on or dark and smokey, you're choice!

All right duckies, we waited and waited all day. Some were lucky and hauled last night, some were lucky for 6am, and those like me held our breath till near 3pm before we could haul. I grabbed all 9 pieces and can't wait to sample Jealousy Wakes eye shadow, Hocus Pocus eye shadow, and Sonora Rain lipglass. So spill! What did you pick up, what did you miss, and what will you be trying first? posted from Bloggeroid

Coastal Scents Think Pink Palette Review

Image
I've had this palette since last fall so please ignore the brush and finger marks.  As always my zeal got the best of me and I couldn't help myself.  Maybe that's a good thing, a swatch photo that's all ready messed up shows how much someone enjoys the item.  Yes?  Maybe?  Okay okay I'll get on with it.

SoothingSuds Satsuma Sugar Scrub Cubes Review and Holy Grail Product

Image
Who doesn't love a little pampering in the shower?  Or a good sugar scrub to boot?  If you're like me you've probably tried those liquid drippy versions and if you're like me hated them.  They always reminded me of playing with finger paints.  Great for fun time but not so much if you wanted to scrub and go.  Well SoothingSuds has my HG of scrubs!  All the awesome sugary scrubby goodness in cube form.  Who doesn't love cubes?

Butter London Powder Finish Foot Crème Review

Image
I'll be the first to admit I'm horrible at staying on top of taking care of my feet.  My pedi visits started off on a good note.  I was going every 2 weeks but as life infringed it turned into once a month and then once in a blue moon.  It's not that I don't love getting my feet done, on the contrary I adore it.  I just have a knack for letting something else get in the way of me getting precious foot VIP time.  I've been on the hunt for a lotion to fill those gaps for keeping my feet soft and my callouses less scaly.  Normal foot lotion wasn't cutting it and powder was causing too much mess all over everything.  Enter Butter London Powder Finish Foot Crème, an answer to my prayers.  I talked myself into trying this during one of my I MUST OWN EVERY BUTTER LONDON POLISH ON THE MARKET AND IT MUST BE NOW purchases at Ulta.  Spontaneous buy?  All my purchases tend to be that way, much to my family's chagrin.  Any way, I figured what...

LORAC Multiplex 3D Eye Shadow Palette Review

Image
I've had this palette for a while and I've tossed around reviewing it or not.  Mainly because the palette is no longer available in stores or online, save for maybe E-Bay.  Despite its unavailability I felt I should go ahead and review it.  Plus if LORAC does another palette similar to this one it might help your feelings on if you should check it out or not.  Right?  Right!  This palette did come with Lorac Multiplex 3D Lashes Volumizing and Thickening Mascara, but I will be reviewing that at a later time.  For now we get to the glitter glitter and more sparkle!  YAY!!

FTW Friday's the Win FTW - June 10, 2011

Image
FTW or Friday's the Win is a play on For the Win and a recurring theme every Friday.  Since everyone looks forward to Friday's arrival each week I figured it'd be a good time to share with everyone what made your week filled with extra epic awesomeness!  Maybe you can juggle chainsaws.  Maybe you can put on a full face of make-up in 5 min flat.  Or maybe you just really love grilling and decided to throw a neighborhood block party.  Whatever it is that made your week tell us all about it here! My Friday is Win cause it's Friday and it's the weekend and I'm gonna sit on my porch with a large glass of wine and watch the world go by.  Why?  Well why not?  Shouldn't all Faeries have some me time?  Go get yourself some me time too. <3

MAC Surf Baby - Hangin' Loose Nailpolish Review

Image
I lashed this color on Tuesday night with three thin coats just to see what it looked like.  I'm not normally a nude kinda girl, I find the colors far too light and they tend to make my hands look sallow.  Yet I'm digging Hanging' Loose.  There's a blush to the color that really warms it up on my hands.  The texture is also insanely smooth and I've been running my fingers over the top of my nails.  Yes I'm weird sometimes.  I knew when I put this color on it was going to be very sheer and have a visible nail line.  I could have gotten away with 2 thin coats but 3 just brought more of that blushing pink color out.  Now the one thing I can't speak on it wear time.  First I just put this color on Tuesday night so that hasn't given much time to see how it does.  Second, I'm lucky if I can get polish to last on my nails without chipping for 24 hours.  In fact I believe I chipped the polish Wednesday morning around lunch time....

Lush Lovely Jubblies Cream Review

Image
I wanted to love you, I really did.  I wanted to love you so bad that I bought you again and kept trying.  You smelled okay in the tub and your scent didn't linger on the skin too long thankfully.  You applied evenly but your recommendations for a little goes a long way I found untrue.  For a while I thought you were working, but then realized my only changes to my routine besides you were application.  Namely I applied the cream working in upward direction instead of down on my girls.  Kind of a no brainer there, if you want the skin to look youthful you apply up and not drag the skin down.  Did my ample bosom appear firmer and more youthful?  Not that I could tell nor the critical eye of my man.  I thought maybe we were missing something and so I stopped about halfway through my second tub and went back to normal body lotion but kept the application technique the same.  Again no noticeable difference.  I wasn't expecting the twin...

Cargo Mediterranean Collection Review

Image
I've been eyeing this set for a while.  Mostly the Teal eye pencil and make-up bag.  I wanted a slightly smaller make up bag than the one I'm using and this one might work.  Also I figured it'd be a good buy to try a few Cargo items and see how I like them.  I was certainly not disappointed with anything in this collection.  I tossed together a quick look for work on Thursday which I will try to replicate and put up for everyone.  Now on to the review! The collection contains a full size blush in Mendocino, a full size eye shadow duo in copper and gold, a full size Better-than-Waterproof Mascara, a travel size Swimmables waterproof eye pencil in Teal and a travel size lip gloss in Morocco, all packaged in the beautiful Voyages make-up bag.

MAC Surf Baby - Girl on Board Lipglass

Image
Many of you all ready understand my love for sparkle and the glitz of gold always gets me.  It just adds that gilded edge to a look.  Instead of loading the sparkle on your eyes, swap it.  Matte eye with a glitzy gold lip, make your pout the stand out piece in your look.  Girl on Board is what you need to achieve this.  By itself or loaded over lipstick it's sure to please everyone.  Or let the shimmer of your bronze Goddess shine through.  Laying out by the pool, perfecting that tan, with Girl on Board on your lips.  Shine girl shine!

Xbox E3 Briefing June 6, 2011 - A Few Thoughts

So the E3 Xbox Briefing was on Monday and I just got around to watching it on the DVR last night.  I wanted to share with everyone my thoughts on what was shown during the event.  Just wish I could have been there.  Oh to be one of the awesomely cool that gets invited.  How do I get on that bus?  Yoo hoo!  Bridget O'Neill!  Larry Hryb!  I'm cool!  Take me with you!! *compses self* Any way, now to the cloud!

MAC Surf Baby - Naturally Eccentric Lipstick

Image
Most would pass on this shade at first glance.  I understand, it's a tube of white lipstick, who would wear white lipstick?  But what you don't see is the potential blank canvas that it actually is.  Just a bit on your lips gives the lack of pigmentation to let a layered on gloss stand out.  Think about it, most glosses get lost on lips based on your level of color.  But with a white nude shade like Naturally Eccentric you can give that gloss what it deserves, the ability to stand alone as well as some hang 10 time.  Of course you could wear it by itself, but why would you?  Go crazy and start layering your gloss on top and see where that takes you.

MAC Surf Baby - Bust Out! Lipstick

Image
I'll admit I was hesitant to wear this shade to work.  In the tube it reminded me of MAC's Violetta, which is an amplified color (and when I say amplified I mean surround sound base thumping loud).  If Violetta is the hard rocking bad girl then Bust Out is her more demure and quiet sister.  Don't get me wrong she still packs quite a color punch but in a wearable shade that won't have your boss putting on his sunglasses when he comes to talk to you.  The color was rich with full coverage that also could be blotted down to a lighter shade.  I found for touch ups I could just tap the lipstick on my lips and then press them together to distribute.  If you're tired of red and pink every week, toss in a day with Bust Out!  I promise you won't be disappointed.

You! Cake or Death?

Summer time is upon us and with it the lovely hot weather to match. So how much make-up do you wear when hot weather hits?

MAC Surf Baby - Good Lovin' Lipglass

Image
For days when you just want a tiny bit of color on your lips.  You know the days I'm talking about.  You wake up, your exhausted, you just don't want to do a full face or even half a face, but you don't want to leave the house without anything on.  Good Lovin' is what you need for those days.  The soft color of this lipglass adds just the right amount to your lips in a quick wand swish and lip press.  Now you're ready for the day.  I wore this color over the weekend and loved how it brightened up my face.  It also made SonicReckoning want to kiss me more.  *giggles*  And the beauty of that was I was able to note how very little of it transferred to him.  Most guys are afraid to kiss their girls for fear of transfer, well fear not with Good Lovin', kiss away I say kiss away!  The barest of color came off and even after all that, it left a good bit of stain still on my lips.  This lipglass is another good choice for the emergenc...

Special Delivery - Crackle Top Coat Haul

Image
You could say I went a little Crackle Top Coat crazy this past Sunday at Ulta.  I just had to have them all!  Sadly I was unable to get Turquoise shatter.  My store only had 3 and some very unsharing type person who was first in line grabbed them all.  But fear not, I will get this color for my collection!  I also snatched up Sally Hansen's Crackle Overcoat colors.  I skipped on white and black since I have them from OPI.  Also have you heard that China Glaze is doing a metallic crackle top coat!  That should be out June/July and this Faerie is going to be all over it and possible first in line as well.  LOL From left to right: OPI White Shatter, Blue Shatter, Navy Shatter, and Red Shatter. From left to right: Sally Hansen Fuchsia Shock, Cherry Smash, and Fractured Foil (silver). From left to right: Sally Hansen Antiqued Gold, Distressed Denim, and Vintage Violet. I cannot wait to start trying these out.  Which colors will you...

MAC Surf Baby - My Paradise Cheek Powder

Image
Don't you hate it when you're in a rush and you end up going a little darker on your make-up then you wanted to.  Well that is what I did the first day I put on My Paradise.  It's not terrible but sheesh I need to pay attention more.  I bring this up because of how dark this color is, you really need to use a light hand and watch how much you apply.  I only dipped my brush into the peach side cause I didn't want any sparkle and I still got a bit much.  I should have just accepted the sparkle and done my traditional one quick light swish around the pan, that always gives me the right amount of color.  But no I was trying to go for just peach and got too much.  Live and learn.  Random side track, you ever notice how we take the time to reduce the amount of red on our face just to go back in with blush and add color.  We are odd ducks aren't we?

Hot Mama Monday - MAC Surf Baby Hibiscus Lipstick

Image
Hot Mama Monday spotlights one item that I feel is a must have in your beauty bag.  If you only pick up one item this week have it be a Hot Mama item! I am loving this color so much.  It is vibrant and a perfect pop of color on my lips.  The formula is creamy, rich and feels soft when I press my lips together.  The downside is it does transfer to everything that even brushes against your lips.  While enjoying my hotpocket for lunch every bite resulted in Hibiscus all over it not matter how hard I tried to avoid it.  It's like these sorts of lipsticks just want to be all over everything.  I also noticed the barest hint of bleeding, but it was so very minute that only a microscope will pick it up.  I did like that Hibiscus left a nice stain behind on my lips.  I probably could have gone all day without a touch up but I did my usual lunch time ritual any way.  It still packed quite a punch despite fading to a stain.

FTW Friday's the Win FTW - June 3, 2011

Image
FTW or Friday's the Win is a play on For the Win and a recurring theme every Friday.  Since everyone looks forward to Friday's arrival each week I figured it'd be a good time to share with everyone what made your week filled with extra epic awesomeness!  Maybe you found your evil twin from a parallel dimension whose also a Vampire.  Maybe you finished with your ZombiePocalypse preparations and decided to help your neighbor with his.  Or maybe you just love the taste of Powerthirst.  Whatever it is that made your week tell us all about it here! My Friday is the Win cause this is my 100th post!  I want to thank all you duckies for being part of this with me!  Let's hope the next 100 posts are even more awesome!!  Thank you thank you thank you all for making Geek Faerie fantabulousness!!!!! Diana rolls 20s.  'Nuff said.

MAC Surf Baby Lipglass - Krazy Kahuna

Image
A lovely shiny ruddy brown color that acted almost like a stain on my lips.  I'm very methodical about getting my lipstick to last through out the day.  You may have heard me mention I'm a chronic lip chewer which I am trying very hard to give up.  I also try to salvage my lip color by dabbing my lips with a napkin when I eat to only remove the top layer rather than wiping and removing everything.  After a full day of eating and the usual lipglass required touch ups I was surprised to find how much color had hung around.  Granted I could not have gone all day without a touch up but I was able to go longer and needed fewer with Krazy Kahuna.  This one is definitely a keeper and I might get a second so I don't have to wait for it to repromote.

MAC Surf Baby Powerpoint Eye Pencil - Blue Noon and Gilded White

Image
I tried Blue Noon over Swell Baby and at first was concerned it would be too bright for work.  Nothing like showing up for work with eye scalding bright blue liner.  Blue Noon was actually more muted than I expected.  A deeper teal rather than bright, but still carried some of that brightness to awaken my eyes without having to settle for navy blue liner.  I like that this gives me a an alternative to my usual blue liners for work and stays friendly enough that the boss approves.

MAC Bloggers Obsessions Collection

Image
The blogosphere has been buzzing about this collection since 9 lucky bloggers were chosen by MAC Cosmetics to travel to their Toronto facility and create their own eye shadow or lipglass.  Can you imagine?!  I am so happy for these girls and I wanted to share the news with all you duckies! Photo Courtesy of Temptalia.com The collection will be available online only on June 21st so mark your calendars and set your alarm.  I know I am not going to miss out on this collection when it hits the site.  Also all items are limited edition so grab them while you can! MAC Surf Baby- Mocha Lipstick

Image
I love MAC's satin finish lipsticks the most.  Imagine a cloud in lipstick form, now imagine said lipstick cloud came in a rich color with smooth application and a non-drying finish.  Make that color Mocha and you have this lipstick.  Not too dark, nor too light, Mocha is the right shade of brown for summer.

MAC Surf Baby - Strange Potion Lipglass

Image
I questioned myself getting this one when I had originally passed on it from Venomous Villains last fall.  The color is perfect for me but this one along with others from VV left me a bit wanting.  Application is perfect, color if rich and fabulous, but staying power just doesn't seem to be with this one.  I get maybe a few hours before it fades to almost nothingness.  Why Strange Potion why do you treat me so?

MAC Surf Baby - Swell Baby Eye Shadow

Image
On first application Swell Baby applied a little on the sheer side but not so sheer as the color was lost on my lids.  More it gave a kissed hint of grey that only deepened to a lovely pewter shade as I built it up.  Grey tones aren't part of my collection and I normally don't go for them.  More cause I worry they might be too dark than the pan shows.  Not Swell Baby, its a lovely light shade that stays light as you layer it on.

When Geek and Beauty Collide

Image
First off let me digress from what I want to talk about to talk about this picture.  While looking for a picture to use in this post I jokingly googled "There's a geek in my cosmetics".  To my surprise Barbie appeared.  It was a bit unexpected.  I now return you to my original thought process for this post... Any who, I was catching up on Facebook posts and was reminded by Zoya that the Sooki nail polish was available and perfectly timed for the start of Season 4 on HBO.  Any fan of True Blood or the Charlaine Harris Southern Vampire Series of books knows exactly what I am talking about.  If not, please go google it, don't worry we'll wait... This of course led to a random browse of the site for the other female characters of the show and book series.  I wasn't very successful with the few characters I searched.  Although Sophie-Ann searched as two separate names did return two colors that I believe the Vampire Queen of Louisiana would be sm...
